SPX Science Department sent 17 students to regional science fair.
Seventeen students advanced from the St. Pius X STEM Expo to compete in the Central New Mexico Science and Engineering Research Challenge on March 23. The research challenge, hosted by UNM, required a great deal of student time and energy. Three Sartans placed in their respective categories, and were invited to compete at the state science fair next month.

• Samantha Multari placed second in the Senior Division Animal Sciences category.

• Brendan Salceies placed second in the Senior Division Engineering category.

• Kayla Moehn placed third in the Senior Division Engineering category.

Additionally, these students were awarded special recognition for their specific entries.

• Heather Gaudette won the American Chemical Society Award.

• Kayla Moehn won the Construction Leadership Council Transportation, Bank of Albuquerque, Bank of New Mexico, Cauwels and Stuve Realty and Development Advisors, LLC, and the Jaynes Corporation awards.

• Samantha Multari won the Climate Change Award.

• Sean Pinon won the United States Air Force and the Wood Innovation & Sustainability awards.

• Brendan Salceies won the Bank of New Mexico, Cauwels and Stuve Realty and Development Advisors, LLC, Daskalos Properties, First Citizens Bank, Jaynes Corporation, Sandia Peak Tram Company awards, and the Trane EarthWise™ Award for Energy and Environmental Stewardship.

• Annika Tedstrom won the New Mexico Wing Award and a set of books: Astronautics History Vols 1 & 2.

• Rose Vigil won the Coronado Award.

• Charlie Woodcock won the Kiwanis Club of Coronado Award.
